Hello Neighbor,

I am not a politician. If I am fortunate enough to be elected to represent you on the Anne Arundel County Council, I will not be one then, either.

I am not the choice of the establishment. Because of that, I am not beholden to failed ideas or traditions that don’t enhance the lives of the people in this district. If legislation doesn’t work, we will toss it aside and replace it with legislation that does. I will answer to you, not to systems that don’t recognize the worth of everyone in this community.

I am a father of five who believes in District Four. I believe in the promise of the district and of the people living in it.

I believe that who you are cannot be determined by your zip code, and that to be our best we must make certain that everyone living here is given an equal opportunity to succeed.

I believe that our teachers should be revered as among the most essential workers we have, as they are helping raise our young men and women, finding a way to reach them regardless of the challenges they face in their own lives.

I believe in our first responders, as they potentially put their lives on the line, every shift, for us.

I thank each and every member of our military, Active Duty, Reserve and Guard, and our military retirees, every time I see them. The sacrifices they and their families have made on behalf of all of us should never be taken for granted.

I believe that we must be bold in how we approach the challenges we face and that innovating and partnering is an essential tool to get the job done. Same old, same old is not a policy. It is a roadblock to progress.

I believe in the right of every person to live a life of their own choosing, free of racism, bias, and hatred.

I believe that every day of my life should be spent positively impacting the lives of the people around me.

That is why I am running for the Anne Arundel County Council. For the future. For District Four. Please reach out and let me work with you on ways we can improve our community.

I respectfully ask for your vote. Together, we can all make a difference in the lives of those around us.

About James

James was born in Washington, DC, but spent his first night, and almost all of them since, in the shadow of the Chesapeake Bay.

A lifelong Marylander, James has long been committed to enhancing the lives of those around him, and this decision to run for the County Council is simply the next step in a process that has been building for decades, as he desires to improve his community and leave it better for the next generation than the one before.

Much of his last two decades have been spent bringing together people, businesses, faith and elected leaders to better the world around them, improving the quality of life for all of them. This work is rewarding in the ways that matter most; in seeing improved results across the board in schools, in reductions in violent crime, and in assisting the public in gaining its voice in the civic process.

James will never lose sight of the impacts his decisions have on the people of the community, as he is running for you. Your inputs will be visible in his work on the County Council, as we step into a brighter future, together.
